Hands-on, scenario-based training and practice for those who have completed the basic TECC course.
Prerequisite: TECC – Tactical Emergency Casualty Care
From your instructors:
Violent attacks on citizens continue to happen again and again. Although public safety is very successful in preventing many of these, our enemies only need to be successful once. It is not enough to stand by or ignore the potential to be involved in an event. All citizens should be prepared and trained to know how to react, and how simple actions can help to save lives among the injured. Civilian bystanders who happen to be involved in these events should be trained and empowered to do what they can to help save their own and other’s lives until medical and law enforcement responders arrive on the scene.
This course is intended to solidify competency in the TECC medical care techniques. As such, prior to attending, prospective students must complete the introductory “Active Bystander” course to learn the TECC guidelines and medical techniques for Active Bystanders.
During this practical application course, after a brief TECC review, participants will practice the hands-on TECC techniques including:
- Assessing the immediate situation in order to make decisions about finding a safe location during the attack
- Physically moving victims to safety
- Actively providing the appropriate TECC care to the injured
