Set To Re-open, Silver Eagle Group Bolsters Its Arsenal

October 28, 2011 – Matt Vecchio, Loudoun Times-Mirror

The Ashburn-based Silver Eagle Group, or SEG, is dusting off the cobwebs just in time for Halloween, unveiling its newly renovated facility to members of the media on Oct. 27. The public will have a chance to start honing their firearm, martial arts and even pool skills at the facility’s grand opening event on Oct. 29.

“We are an instructional facility, this is an academy,” SEG Managing Partner Dario Marquez said. “People refer to this as a range, but it’s really a place where you can come and learn self-defense, you can learn how to use your weapon properly and you can learn other defense [techniques] like martial arts.”

Former customers and guests of SEG will likely be impressed with the extensive renovations, both aesthetic (a newly designed lobby and cleaner look), and technical (a cleaner air flow system and bullet collection point that keeps lead out of the air and you firing longer).

While the firing ranges offer a chance to test out firearms and work on accuracy, SEG’s main message is of self-defense.

“SEG has three lines of business actually,” Director Stephen Marquez said. “We do memberships for the public, we do retail and then we do a lot of training. Our training is made up of self-defense training, as far as firearms go, and then we also do some hand-to-hand stuff and martial arts disciplines.”

Silver Eagle Group: Locked and loaded for re-opening

October 2011 – Matt Vecchio, Loudoun Times-Mirror

Specializing in all things defensive since its opening in 2008, Silver Eagle Group, or SEG, will hold a grand re-opening Oct. 29 to credit the facility’s significant renovations.

Already boasting a state-of-the-art training facility with three modern shooting ranges, SEG, located off of Loudoun County Parkway, will be upgrading those ranges and unveiling a re-modeled lobby area. Additionally, the company’s retail arm will expand to include a broader assortment of guns, ammunition and other products and more training classes will be offered.

“Members and regular visitors may not at first recognize the place,” SEG spokesman Jason Randall said. “Our goal is ... to make every member’s experience as safe as possible, as convenient as possible, and as comfortable as possible. These changes are part of that plan.”

Besides providing a gun range and retail location, SEG specializes in defense training – including firearms training and hand-to-hand mixed martial arts training. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and Muay Thai are among the disciplines taught.

At the Oct. 29 event, SEG will award prizes hourly, ranging from free training sessions to discounts on merchandise. All attendees will be entered into a grand-prize drawing for a free one-year membership.

Retail-wise, SEG is adding in a “try before you buy” program, a way to showcase the company’s array of new product choices. Most firearms can be rented hourly as well. Also new to the retail area is a product line from 5.11 Tactical, among the nation’s most prestigious suppliers of firearm-related clothing and accessories.

Among the benefits of the new renovations is an enhanced ventilation system that SEG says will increase air quality and flow and reduce wait times.

Silver Eagle Group – Loudoun County’s premier Self Defense and Weapons Training Academy – will hold a Grand Re-Opening October 29th to mark the completion of significant renovations and improvements which will upgrade SEG into a world-class facility. Prizes will be awarded hourly ranging from free training sessions to merchandise discounts, and everyone who attends will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize of a free one-year membership.

Located in Beaumeade Corporate Park off Loudoun County Parkway, Silver Eagle Group will be making major improvements to its shooting range, offering a totally remodeled lobby area, adding new courses and membership options in weapons training, and will significantly be changing its retail area to include a larger, broader assortment of products.

“Members and regular visitors may not at first recognize the place,” said SEG spokesman Jason Randall. “Our goal is and has always been to make every member’s experience as safe as possible, as convenient as possible, and as comfortable as possible. These changes are part of that plan.”

Silver Eagle Group is Ashburn's Total Self-Defense Academy

May 2011 – Sean Farrell, Ashburn Patch

An elite group of Navy SEALs secretly crossed into Pakistan May 2 aboard stealth helicopters and raided the walled mansion of the world's most wanted terrorist, Usama bin Laden.

Before the raid, the SEALs reportedly practiced on a near replica of the compound that was specifically built to prepare them for the dangerous mission. The results of that painstaking preparation are clear. Within 40 minutes of hitting the compound, bin Laden was dead, and no U.S. casualties were reported.

It’s certainly not surprising that the U.S. military practiced on a mock-up of bin Laden's compound before conducting the raid in a far off, war-torn land. It is surprising, however, that similar training might be taking place right here in Ashburn.

Nestled within the warehouses and office spaces just off the Loudoun County Parkway, the Silver Eagle Group's tree-lined facade appears unassuming enough.
