Defensive Shotgun

Take your shotgun skills to the next level with Silver Eagle Group’s Defensive Shotgun course. Building on the fundamentals derived from previous training, this intermediate-level class focuses on developing the speed, efficiency, and confidence needed to operate a shotgun effectively in a defensive context.

Through a combination of exercises, students will reinforce fundamental skills while working through progressive drills designed to challenge their ability to manage the shotgun under stress. Training includes speed reloads, ammunition management, slug and buckshot change-overs, shooting from cover and concealment, alternate shooting positions, multiple-target engagement, malfunction remediation, retention shooting, and shooting while moving.

Combining each of the topics covered, the course concludes with a culmination exercise designed to allow the student to apply their new skills in a dynamic environment and provide feedback to enhance their learning experience.

This is not a beginner course. Prior shotgun experience and completion of SEG’s Introduction to Shotgun, Core Shotgun Development, or equivalent course are required.

Ammunition Requirements: 25 rounds slug and 150 rounds buckshot

Required Gear: Shotgun, eye protection, and ear protection. Please note that all shotguns must have sights and stock. Pistol grip firearms (such as the Mossberg Shockwave, for example) are not allowed in this course.

All equipment, to include shotguns, is available for rent at SEG.

Recommended Gear: Shell pouch or ammunition holder, sling, side saddle

Skill Prerequisites: Introduction to Shotgun, Core Shotgun Development, or equivalent course

Valid forms of Citizenship Identification: Voter Registration Card, Passport, Birth Certificate, Certificate of Naturalization
