This is our introductory shotgun course that provides an excellent overview to the world of shotguns and is perfect for the first-time owner or new shooter. This course is a great way for people who are new to shotguns, just want a refresher, or desire an understanding of the fundamentals, to develop their skills in a fun, safe environment. Our certified instructors will cover safe firearms handling procedures, general shotgun knowledge, the fundamentals of marksmanship, as well as the proper care and storage of firearms. This class will deliver a solid foundation to build upon and give beginners the skills they need to become responsible, confident shooters.

This course provides a solid foundation to effectively employ the shotgun in both controlled and real-world environments. This course develops the skills needed to efficiently operate either a pump-action or semi-automatic shotgun and the confidence to identify, react and work though common malfunctions, emergency and deliberate reloads and slug/shot changeovers. Emphasis placed on safety, shot placement, patterning, round selection and near/far engagements.

Cost: $150.00

Participants: 6 Students Ages 15 and Up (Under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian)

Duration: 4 hours

Ammunition Requirements: 25 rounds slug and 25 rounds buckshot

Required Gear: Shotgun, eye protection, and ear protection. Please note that all shotguns must have sights and stock. Pistol grip firearms (such as the Mossberg Shockwave, for example) are not allowed in this course.

All equipment, to include shotguns, is available for rent at SEG.

Recommended Gear: Pen and paper, shell pouch or ammunition holder
